This is an on-site, project-based position requiring travel. You'll work closely with project management and field leadership to connect cost, schedule, engineering, and field execution while providing direction and development to Project Engineers and other assigned personnel.

What You’ll Do

Lead Project Engineering

  • Lead and coordinate project-engineering activities from planning through completion.

  • Manage engineering assignments and priorities to support project cost, schedule, quality, and execution objectives.

  • Interpret plans, specifications, contracts, and technical requirements and provide direction to project and field teams.

  • Lead resolution and documentation of design questions, constructability issues, changed conditions, and field conflicts.

  • Coordinate field-engineering requirements, including layout, measurements, elevations, quantities, and verification of completed work.

  • Establish and maintain effective project-engineering processes, procedures, and controls.

Manage Cost & Project Controls

  • Manage job controls for assigned project areas, including quantities, production, labor, equipment, costs, forecasts, and performance reporting.

  • Support development and maintenance of project budgets, forecasts, schedules, and control systems.

  • Analyze cost, production, and schedule performance to identify trends, risks, and opportunities.

  • Coordinate corrective actions with project management and field leadership when performance varies from plan.

  • Ensure project controls, reporting, quantities, and supporting documentation are accurate and current.

Coordinate Planning & Execution

  • Coordinate engineering, procurement, materials, subcontractors, suppliers, and field requirements with the project execution plan.

  • Support project scheduling, look-ahead planning, and resource coordination.

  • Coordinate across project management, field operations, subcontractors, designers, and other stakeholders to resolve issues and keep work progressing.

  • Represent the project in coordination and client meetings as assigned.

  • Anticipate cost, schedule, production, quality, contractual, and technical risks and work with project leadership to develop solutions.

Lead & Develop the Team

  • Provide day-to-day leadership, direction, and mentoring to Project Engineers and other assigned project personnel.

  • Assign and coordinate engineering responsibilities and monitor completion of assigned work.

  • Develop team members through coaching, feedback, and increased responsibility.

  • Promote consistency in project controls, documentation, engineering practices, and communication.

  • Apply lessons learned to improve project execution and future performance.

Travel & Work Location

  • On-Site & Project-Based: Requires regular presence at active construction sites.

  • Travel Requirements: Travel is an essential requirement and will vary based on project assignments and business needs.

  • Relocation / Mobility: Assignments may require working away from home and moving between project locations as projects are completed.

  • Work Environment: Requires working effectively in both field and project-office environments.

Education & Experience

Required

  • Degree / Experience: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of relevant technical training and construction experience.

  • Years of Experience: Four (4) or more years of construction estimating, engineering, field support, or similar experience.

  • Technical Independence: Demonstrated experience independently managing project-engineering activities, project controls, field coordination, technical issues, and project documentation.

  • Leadership Experience: Demonstrated experience providing direction, coordination, or mentorship to project personnel.

Preferred

  • Experience with heavy civil construction, earthwork/mass grading, paving, underground utilities, concrete, drainage, aggregate surfacing, or large-scale site development.

  • Civil construction experience supporting utility-scale solar, wind, battery energy storage systems (BESS), or substations, including grading, access roads, crane/equipment pads, drainage, or aggregate surfacing. Direct energy-sector experience is preferred, not required; comparable heavy civil, mass grading, and large-scale site-development experience is valued.
